Microsoft has promised the present owners of a legitimate copy of Windows 7 or 8.1 can upgrade for free.

Use the System Section from Control Panel (Windows 7& Windows 8.1)
You can easily find all the specifications of the operating system you are using from System panel.
Go to Start and select Control Panel







Go to System under System and Security. 


If you are using classic view of Control Panel then you can see the System can be find directly.


 Check Windows Edition Tab. In the screenshot below, you can see how the System window looks in Windows 7.
